Former police sergeant charged with rape hands over sex-tape to Police

A former police officer accused of rape has handed over a 12 second video to investigating officers, where the alleged victim is seen having oral sex with him.

This emerged in Court before the Magistrate Gabriella Vella who is presiding over the compilation of Glen Carabott, who is accused of rape and sexual harassment.

Inspector Michael Vella testified about the video passed on to them by Carabott while adding how there was a suspicion that drugs might have been used, since the victim was a known user.

The witness added that contrary to Police procedure, Carabott had gone alone to investigate the victim’s report in connection with a theft she had allegedly suffered.

It also emerged that the victim handed the Police a tissue and a shirt in which the accused had allegedly wiped. These were passed for DNA testing.

The Court also heard the testimony of a woman, who is the mother of a friend of the accused, who admitted that Carabott spoke to her while he was being detained in prison and this despite being a witness to the prosecution and therefore prohibited from speaking to her.

The prosecution in this case is being led by Inspector John Spiteri while the accused is being defended by lawyers Arthur Azzopardi and Charmaine Cherrett.
