Four Italian youths caught stealing clothes from Birkirkara shop

Four Italian youths who are on holiday in Malta were caught on Tuesday by Police stealing clothes at a sport store in Birkirkara.

Antonio Montuori, Simone Barbaro and Leonardo Tedesco, all aged 18, and a 17-year old teenager, admitted the aggravated theft with the clothes valued at no more than €2,300.

Presiding Magistrate Natasha Galea Sciberras, heard how the shop’s employees noticed the youths acting suspiciously, and therefore phoned the police.

Police officers went on site and apprehended the youths near the shop, while the stolen clothes were found hidden in nearby trees.

The three youths were sentenced to 18 months in prison suspended for 30 months, while the teenager was conditionally discharged for a period of three years.
