Four more immigrants who escaped from Safi Detention Centre have been caught

Last night, the Police and Detention Service officials managed to catch four more men of Moroccan nationality who had escaped from the Safi Detention Centre. The four immigrants were found at the Open Centre in Marsa where they were hiding with other Moroccans who live there.

The four men were part of a larger group of immigrants – all of whom are Moroccan except for one Egyptian man – who jumped the fence and escaped from the centre.  Intensive searches led to the arrest of 13 of those who had escaped who were then taken away for further questioning. The authorities are still looking for the other seven escaped immigrants.
