Fr Alfred Darmanin, Jesuit and psychologist, dies
The death has been announced of Jesuit priest Fr Alfred Darmanin, known for being one of the foremost contributors to the field of psychology, serving as a lecturer at the University of Malta for many years.
The Jesuit Order confirmed that he had passed away in a statement in which it paid tribute to his memory and described Fr Darmanin SJ as a man devoted to God, a sincere friend, and a knowledgeable, intelligent person who was always very human.
The Faculty for the Social Wellbeing at the University of Malta described his contribution to the department of Psychology as seminal,  as Fr Darmanin had introduced the degree in this subject and had trained thousands of students including lecturers and administrators at the Faculty.
Fr Darmanin SJ studied and specialised in mathematics, philosophy,  theology and psychology in Malta, Brussels, Washington, Michigan and California.
