There were once again moments of tension outside the Parliament building when NGOs Repubblika and Occupy Justice organised another protest during the Parliamentary sitting, with demonstrators calling for the immediate resignation of the Prime Minister, whilst some objected when they were not allowed to enter the Parliament building.
The protest outside Parliament organised by Repubblika and Occupy Justice spread to Ordnance Street and De Valette Square, and blocked the streets around Parliament.
When the Police advised MPs that they could not get through as the street was blocked, the MPs went back into Parliament.
As they were walking back, the MPs came face to face with journalists. At one point an incident developed between a journalist and a minister’s driver.
This, in turn, led to an altercation between Parliamentary Secretary Clifton Grima and Nationalist MP Karol Aquilina, so much so that the MPs had to be kept apart.
Whilst some of the Government MPs managed to exit the Parliament building, others remained trapped inside for over an hour.
After the MPs left the Parliament building, the protest continued in front of Castille, where it eventually ended.
