G7 leaders pledge to work to avoid another global pandemic

Leaders of the most economically powerful countries in the world, the G7, have pledged to use all their resources in an effort to ensure that the devastation caused by a pandemic like Covid-19 does not recur.

On the second day of the Cornwall summit, they issued a statement with a series of measures to achieve this goal. Among the goals is to reduce the time to develop a vaccine to less than 100 days.

On Friday, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson opened the summit with a call to address global inequality. Following Friday’s talks, Queen Elizabeth II joined the G7 leaders for dinner.
