Germany hit by fourth wave of Covid-19

Lothar Wieler, President of Germany’s Institute of Public Health known as the Robert Koch Institute, has declared that Germany is going through its fourth wave of the coronavirus.

Wieler made his statement during an online conference with, among others, the Head of the German Chancellery Helge Braun.

In light of the increase in the number of Covid-19 cases in Germany, a decision will be taken on 10 August regarding the way forward. On that date, German Chancellor Angela Merkel will attend a conference with ministers holding the reins of power in the 16 German states, in order to decide on new measures with the aim of controlling the spread of the pandemic.
