Gynaecologists in Malta are urging pregnant woman to take the Covid vaccine
The Malta College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists are urging pregnant women in Malta to take the vaccine after their 12th week of pregnancy.
In a statement on social media, the college has appealed to pregnant women to get vaccinated because complications are emerging in those who get Covid while pregnant.
The college said that the vaccine is the best way in which women who are pregnant can reduce their chances of getting Covid and the possibility of complications for the mother and baby. He said that the vaccine can reduce the chances of a mother ending up in ITU, of a premature pregnancy or a stillbirth.
The college said that the evidence shows that the vaccine can be taken during pregnancy or when a mother is breastfeeding, and that it does not affect fertility.
Pregnant women are being urged to take the advice of their doctor or gynaecologist and book the Pfizer vaccine on 145 or by sending an email on [email protected]
