Google stops Huawei’s access to updates on Android operating system

Google has stopped Huawei from making some updates on the Android operating system.

New Huawei smartphones will not have access to many of Google’s popular apps.

These measures came into effect after the Trump administration added Huawei to a trade blacklist of companies which American companies cannot do business with since they do not have a license.

In a statement, Google said that it was following the order and was analysing the implications.

Huawei has declined to comment.
