Gorg Agius, known as “Ġorġ tal-Mużew”, honoured for his work among sick and elderly

Gorg Agius, known as Ġorġ tal-Mużew, has been honoured for his work among the sick and the elderly by the company Caremalta. He was given the Nazzareno Vassallo prize during a ceremony which took place at the Verdala Palace under the patronage of the President of Malta, Marie Louise Coleiro Preca.

Ġorġ, 90, who is from Vittoriosa, has been visiting the sick and the elderly in hospitals for the last 65 years, and provides solace through his spiritual and sometimes humorous rhymes, to help patients cope with the suffering they are going through.

A few weeks ago, tvm.com.mt interviewed Ġorġ tal-Mużew and did a feature about his mission at Mater Dei, even though he now has to use two walking sticks. Ġorġ lives with his three siblings, all of whom are elderly, at their home in Vittoriosa.
