Government has become opaque in every possible way and is continuing with corruption – PN leader
Nationalist Party leader Adrian Delia has stated that on International anti-corruption day, he recalls that Government has not only become opaque in every possible way, but is continuing with corruption through one project after another. Dr Delia declared that the fact that Prime Minister Joseph Muscat states he is happy with the Auditor’s report on the new power station, is a guarantee that Government will continue with corruption.
Interviewed on NET FM, the Nationalist Party leader stated that this Government has become tainted with corruption in every possible way, adding that it is now even denying reports which show this corruption. Dr Delia stated that the fact Government is stating that the Auditor’s report on the new power station gives it a good certification is a guarantee that in one project after another, Government is continuing with corruption. Dr Delia stated that this meant businessmen in Malta were not receiving equal treatment, and unless they have the backing of some Minister, they will become third class citizens. The PN leader stated that a Government which is supposed to be for the workers and the vulnerable, is glutting itself at the people’s expense.
Regarding the Opposition’s Parliamentary motion on the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia, the Nationalist leader stated that every attack of violence and murder is condemnable, and when it involves the murder of a journalist, this means freedom of expression and freedom of thought have been attacked. Dr Delia added that freedom of expression also meant that when one expresses one’s ideas at one’s workplace, one does not suffer injustices. These, Dr Delia stated, are the foundations of a democratic society, and when this principle is stifled, it means democracy is under threat.
The PN leader said the Nationalist Party is not the party which grabs places from the people, it does not abuse of power, it does not treat the country’s treasury as its own, and does not put its fingers in the people’s tills. Dr Delia reiterated that the Nationalist Party again wants to be the people’s party.
