“Government is doing everything possible for schools to open in September”

Asked about the schools issue in the wake of the Covid-19 situation in Malta, Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Chris Fearne stated it is still too early to give an answer and say whether the schools will be re-opening. Dr Fearne added, however, that the Government’s aim is for schools to re-open in September.

Dr Fearne explained that the Government is doing everything possible for schools to re-open, as it is aware of the importance of schools. The Minister added that schools are essential both for learning by children and for the economy, both present and future.

Dr Fearne added that they are aware of the importance of parents being able to go to work, further stating they are studying the situation so that the schools will be in a position to re-open in September.
