Government registers €76 million deficit in first month of the year

Government income and expenditure continued to increase during the first month of this year. The National Statistics Office stated that in January Government registered a deficit of nearly 76 million euro, which is nearly 21 million euro more than the Government deficit for January of last year.

The NSO explained that compared to January of last year, Government’s recurrent expenditure had increased by more than three million euro, and during the same month Government’s expenditure went up by close to another 15 million euro, six million euro of which were investments in capital projects.

Government debt in January stood at nearly 22 million euro less than for January of the previous year.
