Government registers surplus of €57.4 million

Between July and September of last year, the government registered a surplus of over € 57 million. Figures published by the National Bureau of Statistics show that in the third quarter of last year the surplus in government finances was 57 million and four hundred thousand euros.

The figures show that government revenue in those three months fell by almost € 4 million compared to the same quarter in 2018. On the other hand, government expenditure between July and September increased by almost € 52 million.

The Treasury figures published by the National Bureau of Statistics show that until last September government debt stood at nearly € 5,615 million. Figures show that this was increased to slightly over € 71 million when compared with September 2018. The debt of entities that is guaranteed by the government was nearly € 1 070 million, € 14 million less than it was the previous year.
