Jury liberates Nigerian accused of complicity in heroin trafficking

A Court jury today liberated 44-year-old Nigerian Kenneth Duru from accusations that he was complicit in the trafficking of heroin in June, 2010.

On a jury verdict of seven votes in favour and two against, in front of Judge Consuelo Scerri Herrera, the verdict was of not guilty.

Together with another person who was also alleged to be part of the case against Duru, the Nigerian and the other person fled to Italy in 2018 just before the jury hearings began. They were returned to Malta under an EU Arrest Mandate.
