High record temperatures in Antarctica

A record temperature of 20.75C has been measured on an island near the continent of Antarctica.

Brazilian scientist Carlos Schaefer said that he never saw the temperature get so high in this area.

This all happened on 9 February, with the scientist saying that this information cannot be used to anticipate future climate change. He said that this should be considered just as a signal that something unusual is happening in this part of the world.

Schaefer said that studies need to be carried out in more detail about the temperatures in this zone.
