Highest participation in MEP elections in 20 years

In the elections for the European Parliament throughout the EU member states, the right and left wing parties lost their majority while there was an increase in support for Liberal, Green and Nationalistic parties.

Despite this,  the centre-right parties will continue to form the largest bloc within the Euro Parliament, and are expected to form a coalition which is pro-EU.

The Liberal and Green parties did very well while the Nationalistic parties won both in Italy as well as France. More people went out to vote for these elections and in fact it was the highest participation in the last 20 years.
