Homicide shocks Sydney – Jessica Camilleri charged with decapitating her mother
A shocking homicide has been reported in Australia, where a girl – possibly of Maltese descent – has been charged with murdering her mother in their Sydney home.
Part of 57-year-old Rita Camilleri’s body was found in the kitchen, whilst her head was found in front of the neighbours’ home. 25-year-old Jessica Camilleri was arrested in the same place.
The case occurred late on Saturday evening, with neighbours reporting that before hearing screaming, they had heard a heated argument in progress between the two women.
Accused gave direct video evidence in Court, stating she suffered from a number of psychological conditions. Accused added that she needed medical assistance, as she could not move her finger after the incident and was in pain, and could not even clean off the blood.
Police officers described this as one of the most shocking cases they had ever come across. It is understood that a number of knives were used during the attack, and these have been taken away by the Police.
It was also stated that Police officers who went to the crime scene were later given psychological counselling in view of the macabre scene they had witnessed.
