A survey carried out among 5,600 women found that those who eat fast food at least four times a week take a month longer to become pregnant, compared to women who do not eat fast food frequently. Even women who do not eat much fruit delay pregnancy.
According to experts, a good diet helps women to become pregnant.
The survey was carried out among women in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Participants were asked about the food they ate the month before they were pregnant with their first baby. Midwives had visited the women when they were in their 14 to 16-week pregnancy and asked them if they had eaten fruit, vegetables, fish, burgers, pizza, chips and fast food.
Researchers found that women who ate less than three fruits a month took an extra half month to become pregnant.
