Entrepreneur Hugo Chetcuti had to be urgently operated on once again last night after his condition took a turn for the worse. He was stabbed twice in the stomach on late Friday night.
Following the operation, Chetcuti was transferred to another ward where he is being kept under constant police surveillance. Sources close to Mater Dei explained that although his condition was described as stable, he is still in danger of dying.
Hugo Chetcuti was stabbed with a large knife with an eight inch blade, by Bojan Cmelik, a 35-year-old man of Serbian nationality, during the opening of Chetcuti’s new establishment in Triq Santa Rita, Paceville.
On Saturday morning Bojan Cmelik was arraigned in Court charged with the attempted murder of Hugo Chetcuti. He was arrested shortly after the stabbing when he tried to flee from Paceville and ran towards Sliema.
