“I wanted to set a good example for my son” – Ryan Tonna before his tragic death

Ryan Paul Tonna, the police constable who died suddenly after taking part in a marathon in Italy had written that he had become an athlete in order to give a good example to his son.

In a post on his Facebook page, Ryan said that he had started training and that this was his first half marathon which he undertook after 18 months of training.

He thanked his wife Amanda for supporting him and said that she would stay up and wait for him and prepare his food after training.

He also thanked his coach Ivan and others who had helped him. He congratulated other Maltese athletes who took part in what would be his first and last marathon.
