20 million persons worldwide infected by COVID-19

According to figures collated by the John Hopkins University, the total of Coronavirus infections worldwide has now exceeded 20 million spread in 188 countries. Over 750,000 have died of the infection. Of the current registered cases, five million are in the United States and a further three million in Brazil while India has over two million registered cases. Over the last 15 days, India has registered over 50,000 cases daily. In England and Wales during the last week of July, almost 9,000 deaths were registered.

In Australia, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said restrictions on internal flights will remain in force probably until Christmas. Frontiers between some States wil remain closed for at least a further 18 months. US President Donald Trump has said that he is considering a ban on the return of US residents if they are suspected of being infected. In the Brazil beach at Rio de Janeiro those who wish to visit the beach will have to book a space beforehand.
