Honorary Consuls are the catalysts for relations between Malta and the countries they represent – President Coleiro Preca
President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca has described Honorary Consuls as being the catalysts for the strengthening of relations between Malta and the countries they represent.
She said that the country’s stronger economic development has created the requirement for foreign employees and this is where the work of Consuls is greatly involved to ensure the protection of human dignity of those they meet.
She said human rights are not restricted by frontiers, nationalities or appearances. President Coleiro Preca said that although the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is now in its 70th year it cannot be said that all humanity is benefitting from this declaration. The Honorary Consuls Corps was lead by the Corps Dean, Godwin Bencini. The President urged the Consuls to do their best to build a culture of peace as well as to assure dignity by giving assistance to all those that request it.
