The Electoral Commission has failed to distribute voting documents to 440 people – the PN
The Secretary General of the Nationalist Party, Clyde Puli, said the Electoral Commission has failed to distribute voting documents to 440 persons and had failed to provide a remedy for this. He said of these 440 persons, 100 had only been given voting documents for the EU Parliament election and 300 were just given voting documents for Local Council elections.
Puli said the irony is that the Commission found time so that contrary to the normal, the Police were sent to collect the voting documents of 160 persons who are voting outside of Malta and requested that a family member declares in their name they are really voting from overseas.
MP Karol Aquilina said the Law states the Commission is obliged to ensure that the Police visit on a door-by-door basis to distribute voting documents. He said this had not taken place with the usual fervency and the Commission stands obliged to rectify this. Dr Aquilina said the Nationalist Party has written to the Commission but the Commission repelled it can offer no remedy for the 440 persons who remained without the appropriate voting documents.
