Malta MedAir operating its first flight today

Malta MedAir is operating its first flight MM02 today which is heading for Chopin Airport in Warsaw, an Airbus A320 bearing registration 9H-AEO. The flight took off from the Malta International Airport at about 2.20 pm and is expected to return by 10.15 pm. The crew on board this first flight are all Maltese, including the flight’s Captain and his female assisting First Officer.

The new Maltese airline was established on 10th January, 2018, by the Government and will perform a number of scheduled flights to European destinations.

An airline statement said that preparations for this first flight had been ongoing for some time with a number of pilots and cabin crew employed and being given additional training. The airline has plans to increase its operations and in the following weeks increase its employee resource.

Malta MedAir has been operating since March of 2018 on an ACMI basis for Air Malta but today it has operated a flight with its own staff.

Discussions are being held with clients for the airline to begin operating a number of other flights.
