Gozo Ministry to finance €45,000 project for a multi-sensory room at Dar Arka
A new multi-sensory room at Dar Arka in Għajnsielem in Gozo has gained the support of the Gozo Ministry in agreement with Fondazzjoni Arka and will finance the whole project.
Dar Arka offers services and residence for disabled persons and currently has a project in hand for a multi-sensory room that will offer therapy for disabled persons. The Gozo Ministry will be financing the necessary €45,000 total expenses.
Dar Arka Director, Fr Michael Galea, explained this room is an important resource to enable therapy for disabled persons because it offers an interactive environment, provides recreation and is also educational.
He said the pandemic has presented fund-raising difficulties but it was decided to proceed with the project and with the help of the Ministry this will be accomplished to help disabled persons.
Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri noted that Dar Arka is undergoing upgrading works to be able to offer a better service to residents with various disabilities. He said the Gozo Ministry has always worked to achieve social justice and has always been happy to support Dar Arka.
The Dar requires €1.5 million annually to offer residence for 15 disabled persons. Five years ago the Dar il-Ġublew tal-Ħniena opened to cater for five disabled persons to enable them to lead an independent life.
