“The country should not depend on vehicles for transport” – the AD

The Chairperson of Alternattiva Demokratika (AD), Carmel Cacopardo, said the country should not have to depend on vehicles as a means of transport while this increases traffic congestion and pollution.

Accompanied by AD candidates for Local Elections and MEP Elections, Cacopardo maintained that Transport Malta is increasing space for vehicles and not for residents. He said the Attard Central Link project will divide Attard and render it more difficult for residents to utilise public transport.

He said this road will not be offering adequate facilities for other routes and will be destroying countryside. He proposed the creation of alternative local and regional transport as a means of decreasing traffic. He pointed out that a University of Malta study had established that drivers are wasting an hour every week as a result of traffic congestion.
