The PM’s New York commitments – will address the General Assembly of the UN

In the coming days Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has various commitments in New York the highlight of which will be his addressing the 73rd Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations on Thursday.

The session theme is that of the UN being made relevant to all, a discussion that will focus on world leadership and the sharing of responsibility for a sustainable society to be able to live in peace and equality.

The PM lead Maltese Delegation will have various meetings, among them a meeting tomorrow regarding drugs problems, a theme raised by US President Donald Trump.

Dr Muscat will also address a high level meeting on peace themes to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of former South African President Nelson Mandela.

The PM is accompanied by Foreign Minister Carmelo Abela who is also responsible for Commercial Promotion and Glenn Bedingfield who is a Member of the Parliamentary Committee for Foreign Affairs and Europe.

The Delegation is due to arrive in New York later today.
