Instagram announces changes in duration of videos

Instagram users will now be able to upload videos of up to an hour’s duration.

The company anounced this during an activity in San Francisco. Instagram’s Chief Executive, Kevin Systrom, explained that the videos will be specifically for today’s mobiles, meaning they will be in portrait format. In this way the user will not need to turn the mobile in order to view the video.

Up to now users could only upload videos of one minute’s duration on their profiles, and Instagram stories, which disappear after 24 hours, were limited to 15 seconds.

It is not yet clear whether these videos will also include advertising, or whether the users will be asked to pay for their content.
