Turkish war planes opened a wave of air attacks against the Kurdish rebels of the PKK, who are based in the northern part of Iraq, in retaliation for the fatal attack on the army in Eastern Turkey.

Tens of warplanes were involved in the six hour bombing in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has sworn to destroy the strong rebel factions in retaliation for the attack by the PKK on Sunday. He said that Turkey would not be intimidated by terror and he vowed that the mountains would be swept clean of terrorists.
