Jail terms for two men who tried to escape from Malta

Two Sudanese nationals, Bashir Issa and Ishar Abud, have been sent to jail for six months and nine months respectively after they were apprehended trying to escape from Malta on board the catamaran through the use of false documents in the case of Issa and with a Guinean national’s passport in the case of Abud.

Inspector Karl Roberts for the Prosecution stated that the migrants, who pleaded not guilty, are residents at the Ħal Far open centre.

The case was heard by Magistrate Rachel Montebello.
