Overcomes leukaemia but is not allowed to attend school

In Italy, an eight-year-old boy who recovered from the harsh effects of leukaemia after a transplant and chemotherapy has been barred from attending school.

This is because in the same school there are children that have never been vaccinated and these may be dangerous for young Andrea (an assumed name). His life may once more be put in danger if he comes into contact with other children who are prone to disease and illness.

Doctors who toiled strenuously to keep Andrea alive are furious that parental negligence has caused children not to be vaccinated and these are therefore depriving Andrea from attending school and being with other children.

Currently in Italy there is no legislation that obliges children to be vaccinated and this is highly inconvenient to children like Andrea and others.
