Caught trying to leave the country carrying thousands of euro undeclared cash

The Customs Department said that its female dog sniffer Sophie has succeeded in identifying a passenger who was carrying €12,343 in undeclared cash.

The Libyan passenger was due to travel to Istanbul in Turkey when he was asked by Custom Officials to declare the amount of cash he was carrying.

He declared he had €3,000 but when searched were carried out it resulted he was carrying €2,530 personally, had €4,085 in a small suitcase and a further €6,100 in a larger suitcase.

The Libyan accepted to pay the fine and proceed to his destination rather than being arraigned in Court.
