Detained under arrest after admitting to violently robbing an elderly man

A 16-year-old youth was detained under arrest after admitting to last week having violently robbed an elderly 74-year-old man in Triq il-Ħġejjeġ, St Paul’s Bay.

Appearing before Magistrate Doreen Clarke, the Serbian youth was accused by Police Inspector Fabian Fleri of having detained the man against his will and stealing €1,100 off him, cash he had allegedly withdrawn from an ATM a few minutes earlier.

Magistrate Clarke requested a period of three weeks during which probation reports will be made by officials and after which sentence will be delivered.
