Detained under arrest after being accused of having injured his partner

A man from Cospicua who on the eve of St Valentine’s Day had an argument with his girlfriend and caused her light injuries ended up in a prison cell after being accused of having caused her light injuries, threatening and insulting another person and disturbing the public peace.

In Court the man’s Defence Counsel maintained the couple frequently had arguments and it was the partner that first struck the man and he had retaliated to her aggression.

Magistrate Doreen Clarke rejected his request for bail.
