UPDATED: Kordin inmate found dead in his cell- PN reaction

A 39-year-old inmate at the Kordin Correctional Facility has been found dead in his cell. His body was found at about 5 pm.

District Police are investigating and a Magisterial Inquiry has been launched.

The Facility’s authorities are carrying out an internal investigation.

Nationalist Party reaction

Opposition spokesperson on national security, Beppe Fenech Adami said in a statement that the case is a confirmation that the Government is failing in the prison reform because a person lost his life under the guardians and in the hands of those who are supposed to rehabilitate prisoners.

He added that political responsibility has to be shouldered and that Minister Michael Farrugia should reply for this failure.
