Johnson & Johnson vaccine being administered in Malta following EMA approval
Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Chris Fearne has stated that on the recommendation of the European Medicines Agency, the Johnson & Johnson vaccine has started being administered from today. This means that Malta now has the fourth vaccine which is being used to vaccinate against Covid-19.
Contrary to other vaccines, the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is given in one dose. It is understood that the first consignment of this vaccine arrived in Malta at the end of last week.
Mr Fearne also announced during a media conference that Malta, together with many European Union countries, has instituted proceedings against AstraZeneca after the company failed to provide the amounts of vaccines agreed upon with the European Union.
