Jordan Azzopardi’s partner re-arrested – charged with trying to suborn witness

Jordan Azzopardi’s partner has been remanded in custody after allegedly attempting to suborn a witness with a 20,000 euro payment.

The compilation of evidence continued today against 29-year-old Jordan Azzopardi, who is facing some 15 charges, including trafficking of heroin, cocaine and cannabis.

Azzopardi’s partner had already been released on bail, but she found herself in Court again today after a former employee of Azzopardi stated in evidence that she had telephoned him and offered him 20,000 euro to lie under oath. The woman allegedly offered to pay him 10,000 euro in advance, and the balance of 10,000 euro after he gave evidence.

The woman’s lawyer, Franco Debono, asked for bail, but the Prosecution objected. The Court turned down the request for bail.
