Justyne Caruana claims she had no knowledge of the story published in the media about her husband
Dr Justyne Caruana has said that she was not aware of the story reported in the media about the close rapport between her husband, former Deputy Commissioner Silvio Valletta, and Yorgen Fenech, who is the main suspect in the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia.
This was stated in a resignation letter she sent to Prime Minister Robert Abela, excerpts of which have been published by the Prime Minister’s Office .
In these excerpts, Dr Caruana said that the story published in the media was “totally alien to her”. She added that although she has no connection with the facts, she was resigning with immediate effect.
She insisted that had always been loyal and absolutely dedicated to her Ministerial role and that she went about it with honesty and correctness, and had therefore requested that she be able to defend her name because of her children.
Prime Minister Robert Abela thanked Dr Caruana for her work.
