Keith Schembri interrogated this morning – a statement was made

The Police this morning once again sent for the Prime Minister’s former chief of staff, Keith Schembri. Television Malta is informed that Police from the Economic Crimes Section once more interrogated Mr Schembri and that a statement was taken.

On Saturday, the Police had already sent for Keith Schembri to interrogate him on his alleged participation in the fake employment case of Melvin Theuma – the alleged middleman in the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.

Keith Schembri was among the persons that the Police spoke to in the past hours as part of the investigation. Sources told TVM that the officials that spoke to Police implicated that Keith Schembri exerted pressure so that Melvin Theuma is given employment.

The Police initiated the investigation, led by Inspector Nikolas Vella, on misappropriation after Theuma revealed in his testimony in Court that he was given a Government job in 2017 and he was paid a salary without attending for work. It emerged that his employment was terminated after four months.
