Updated: PAC agrees that Mizzi and Apap Bologna will give evidence on Tuesday

The Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee has adjourned to Tuesday to hear the testimony of entrepreneur Paul Apap Bologna and independent MP Konrad Mizzi, after Dr Mizzi’s lawyer could not attend Wednesday’s sitting.

This agreement was reached after a number of arguments, with Government members insisting on putting questions to Mr Apap Bologna as had been agreed at the last sitting before the summer recess.

Opposition members and Chairman Beppe Fenech Adami insisted that MP Mizzi appears before the Committee on Friday afternoon. The Government members objected because of other commitments.

Nationalist MP Karol Aquilina insisted that Dr Mizzi should appear before the Committee even if his lawyer is unable to attend. Tourism Minister Clayton Bartolo at this point accused Dr Aquilina of wanting to deny Dr Mizzi legal aid.

Public accounts Committee Chairman Beppe Fenech Adami said Mr Apap Bologna could not attend Wednesday’s meeting because his lawyer was indisposed following an accident.

The committee agreed to meet twice next week.
