Couple each jailed for nine years for trafficking women for prostitution purposes

A Hungarian couple who came to Malta five years ago were each sentenced to nine years of imprisonment after being found guilty of having trafficked Hungarian women for prostitution purposes.

In her sentence, Magistrate Natasha Galea Sciberras decreed that Robert Attila Majlat aged 42 and Attilane Majlat aged 37, both living at St Paul’s Bay, were also found guilty of the exploitation of vulnerable women one of whom had proven she had psychological problems.

They were not found guilty of being repeat offenders with the Court declaring the Prosecution had not provided any proof of this and it appears that otherwise they had a clear conduct record.
