Archbishop to visit Poland to investigate child sexual abuse cases

In the coming month Archbishop Charles Scicluna is expected to visit Poland to investigate cases of sexual child abuse by members of the clergy. This is being reported by the Polish media.

During his visit the Archbishop, who for a number of years has been a main Vatican prosecutor of such abuse cases, will be attending the plenary session of the Conference of Polish Bishops.

Polish Members of Parliament have also commented on the Archbishop’s mission saying that the Archbishop’s visit to Poland is not just a two-day courtesy visit.

The Archbishop’s last visit on similar matters was in Chile where after reports he prepared on paedophile cases and the curtain of silence around them, a number of Chilean Bishops resigned.
