FATF votes that Malta be placed on its Grey List – reports

The Financial Action Task Force, (FATF), has voted to put Malta on its Grey List.

This is being reported by various media sources quoting the outcome of a meeting held this afternoon. Besides Malta it seems that Romania has also been placed on the same list.

From reports it appears that the United States voted against Malta during today’s session. However, the vote was taken in secret and the FATF decision has not as yet been officially announced.

The FATF is a body that supervises those countries that are observing legalities tied to money laundering. In recent months Mata has implemented various Laws and measures to address this sector.

Prime Minister Robert Abela and Finance Minister Clyde Caruana are expected to address a media conference from Castille in a short while.
