Switzerland votes against two proposals for sustainable agriculture

In Switzerland the electorate has voted against two proposals for sustainable food.

Preliminary results indicate that 60% of the electorate voted against the proposals aimed at strengthening Swiss agriculture and promoting to make it more sustainable.

Those who campaigned against the proposals, including entrepreneurs as well as the Government, warned voters that if the referendum succeeds, prices will go up and there will be less food choice.

The result is being seen as a great defeat for groups of farmers.
