Joe Camilleri, who for long years served in the Labour Party and in Government, died aged 86.
During his career, Mr Camilleri served in different roles assigned to him by former Prime Minister Dom Mintoff. Only a few weeks ago, he was honoured on the occasion of Republic Day.
Between 1957 and 1964, Joe Camilleri was President of the Labour League of Youth and also served as international secretary of the Labour Party. He experienced the Interdiction time and the turbulent years of the politico-religious confrontation.
Apart from his role as private secretary to Dom Mintoff and cabinet secretary, Mr Camilleri also served in various public positions being of service to his country.
