Emanuel Grech, who lost his life when he fell down two floors in a lift shaft at Daniel’s Shopping Complex in Hamrun, has been given a last farewell.
Surrounded by relatives and friends, Grech’s remains were given a final send-off at St Julians parish church.
Grech lost his life on Tuesday when he was helping his son Matthew in his tile-laying work.
The tragic accident took place before Matthew’s very eyes. Matthew wrote on Facebook that this was a bolt from the blue. He added that his father always used to warn him to exercise due care and caution in his work, but unfortunately he was the one who lost his life in this tragedy.
“Father, it is so sad that you had to leave us like this. You died in front of my eyes. I could not do anything to help you. I just can’t forget you. Unfortunately, that is fate,” Matthew Grech wrote.
