LGBTIQ activist murdered in Russia

In Russia, an activist who was campaigning for human rights, in particular in favour of LGBTIQ persons, was killed near her house.

The body of 41-year old Yelena Grigoryeva was found among low trees in St Petersburg. She was stabbed several times and had signs that indicated she was also strangled.

Friends of Grigoryeva alleged that she received life threats, which she reported to Police. The Russian media said the Police are holding a suspect in connection with the murder.

Grigoryeva also campaigned against the Crimea occupation, the ill-treatment of prisoners and other humanitarian issues.
