“Luckily I’m still alive” – driver who avoided truck impact at Mellieħa

“Luckily, I’m still alive” was among comments made by various drivers who on Saturday avoided a truck which was driven recklessly at Mellieħa.

The truck collided with various other cars and drove on, even when a tyre dislodged itself.

On the social media, Gordon Pace Bonello said that he saw the truck approaching with great speed and in an attempt to avoid it, he drove on the wrong side of the road. “It was a quick decision I had to perform. It was either this, or I would have died on the spot”.

Another comment was made by Tania Borg, who said that the blue Honda car, which is seen at the end of thefootage exclusively transmitted by TVM, belongs to a family member.

“My family member is lucky he did not die today due to the negligent driving by a truck driver who was speeding on the wrong side of the road”. She said that the driver hit the Honda car and drove on.

Other drivers who spoke with TVM said that after the truck hit their car, they followed it despite being in shock, filmed it and saw it impacting with other vehicles.
