The Maltese islands have been ranked among the best holiday islands in Europe. This emerges from a survey conducted by KAYAK, the world’s leading travel website.
Crete and Greece were ranked at the top of this survey with Malta ranking 20th out of 70 islands in Europe.
In a statement, KAYAK said the ranking was drawn up after analyzing 70 islands across Europe based on seven categories including weather, flight accessibility, hotel-related prices, restaurants, food and transportation, Covid-19 precautions and things you can do on holiday.
These categories have been gauged along with many other factors in order to determine which islands offer tourists the best holistic experience as well as those that are considered best suited to the specific needs of travelers, including the best holidays for travellers, families and value for money destinations.
The company said that above all, this classification aims to help the tourist better choose where to go for a smooth hassle free holiday.
The site added that as European travel borders reopened, the search for flights to European islands increased by 11% compared to the summer of two years ago, ie before the US pandemic broke out. Covid-19 has completely shaken up the tourism industry.
